Stan had quite the career in the North East of England, playing for all three major clubs in the area and being capped twice for his Country at full international level. Starting at Sunderland he played over 400 times for the Wearsiders before a big money move to Newcastle. Captaning the Magpies he played three seasons at St James Park making over 80 appearances and achieving promotion from the 2nd Division before his final move as a player to Middlesbrough where he both played and then managed the club. He also had spells as a Manager with AEK Athens before returning to the UK.
