Five years and over 250 appearances for Huddersfield Town made him something of a crown favourite at the Terriers.
He was something of a coup for Newcastle then arriving in 1983. But a serious injury to his Achilles just after joining the Magpies would mean he'd have to wait almost a year before he could make his debut. Despite then become a mainstay of the United defence the arrival of Willie McFaul would see a changing of the guard and he would be sipped back to Huddersfield.
He would go on and play for Rochdale, twice, with successful two year spell at Stockport punctuating his time there before retiring in 1992 and bringing a close to his 19 year professional career.
