Capped 4 times for France, Remy was something of an enigma.

Lightweight but full of skill (at least in his clips from his French clubs), he threatened to be something of a cult hero when he signed for Newcastle United from Montpellier in 2014.

But his gifts as a footballer were no match for the rigour and physicality of the Premier League. And whilst physique alone should never the deciding factor for any player at the top level of English football (there are many 'slight' players who've made more than a small dent in it's history) it would seem that in this case a lack of an ability to impose himself on the team or the league (either physically of mentally) made short work of his career at the Magpies.

Indeed Remy would only see out only one of the six years of his contract with Newcastle, before returning to France, and Marseille, initially on loan before converting this into a permanent deal with his tail between is legs.

The player scoring just once in 34 total appearances in all competitions whilst on Tyneside. A pitiful record for an attacking midfield player.

Gone, but not particularly missed, at all!
