Danny Rose was brought in by Steve Bruce on the day before the transfer window closed in the January of 2020. He was actually an emergency signing with fellow left-backs Willems and Dummett having both just been ruled out for the season.
Danny, an England International with 29 Caps at the time was of course much more than just a panic buy. A proven top drawer Premier League player was a fantastic and welcome addition to Bruce's squad for the remainder of that campaign.
He played 13 times for the Magpies in all comps helping his team to 5 clean sheets in the process.
After a little bit of a shaky start to his brief time at the club he settled into the team well, putting in some solid performances.
The club decided not to pursue to the left back at the end of that season, instead moving for young Norwich full-back Lewis as a permanent replacement.
