DeAndre Yedlin was one of those rare creatures to play for both Sunderland and Newcastle United having been loaned to 'that lot down the road' from Spurs before eventually joining the Magpies from the same London club in the August of 2016.

Unlike some who made that transition, Yedlin would become something of a favourite amongst the majority of Newcastle fans. Diminutive in stature, Yedlin had pace to burn which was as useful going forward as back in what was a turbulent few years for the club under Mike Ashley.

He was certainly a handy player to have around. At the time of leaving Newcastle he'd already racked up 62 full International caps for the USA, playing 125 times for NUFC in total.

Signed by Rafa Benitez as one of the players he needed to bring United back to the Premier League, having been relegated the season before, DeAndre played a pivotal role in getting his team back to the top flight at the first time of asking, playing 27 times and scoring once.

But after Rafa left, Yedlin became a bit part player under new manager Steve Bruce and, with his contract due to expire in June 2021, the club let the player leave for Turkey in the COVID hit February of that same year.
