A Wallsend lad who despite being on the books at Sunderland, never played for the Wearside club and moved to Newcastle United the following year. Winning the Charity Shield in 1909, and scoring in the process, 'Jack' would only play for the club 15 times in a three season spell before moving to West Brom and then Nottingham Forest. He saved in the Medical Corp in World War One before passing away at the tender age of just 32 from Spanish Flu.
