Bobby was a Scotland International who only had one spell in a long playing and managerial career south of the Scottish border, that being with Newcastle United. He excelled at most sports, playing Rugby, Cricket and Golf at a very high standard. A Full Back with style and physicality he played over 100 games for Newcastle before the start of WWII, then returning to Scotland as a PT Instructor. Whilst he only made two formal appearances for Scotland, he did play in another, this one an un-official game at St James Park when his Scotland side played England.
