In the dark days of the Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce era at Newcastle United, as a second year of COVID gripped the world, Elliot would get a chance to offer Newcastle a rare ray of light after making his full debut for the club.

His first appearance would be as a substitute in an extra time loss in the FA Cup, away to Arsenal in an empty Emirates Stadium on January 12th 2021. His league debut coming just a week later, again his early promise and confidence being able to do nothing to stop his team suffering another defeat after coming on in the 87th minute.

Born in Whitley Bay, the local lad played his junior International football for Scotland, qualifying to play for them through his Grandmother.

But with the madness that was the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) gripping the premier league as the top few greedy clubs tried desperately to hang onto their dominance of the competition and throw up barrier after barrier to the like of Newcastle and Aston Villa, Elliot would be sold in the Summer of 2024.

With United needing to raise around £60m on the last day of the footballing financial year he was sold to Nottingham Forest for a sum of around £35m. A huge fee and pure profit from a player who came through the Newcastle youth ranks.

Whilst not of the calibre of Tonali, Bruno or Joelinton who would be the first choice midfield three at the time, Elliot had played a vital part of the first team squad the previous season with Tonali suffering a year long ban for gambling and an injury ravaged season.

He went with his reputation at an all time high and the best wished of the Newcastle faithful.
