Harvey Barnes was a summer capture from newly relegated Leicester City in 2023.

An FA Cup winner at Leicester, Barnes came with a significant reputation as a direct running left winger and one with a a keen eye for goal.

Joining the Magpies with one full England cap his start at his new club could not have gone any better, coming on as a 68 min substitute in Newcastle's opening game of the 23/24 campaign bagging a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over Aston Villa. But injury would cause him to miss most of the first half of that season, not retuning until 3 Feb 24, once again coming on as a late substitute, and once again scoring only this time in an epic 4-4 draw against newly promoted Luton Town
