David would spend 6 years in total at Newcastle United. During this time he would be something of a regular in the United side, making over 100 appearances for his boyhood club. He was later loaned out to Blackburn by Arthur Cox as the new manager made a raft of changes to try and get Newcastle back to the top flight, before finishing his career at Darlington. David had represented Durham at Schoolboy level.
