Capped 12 times for England, Roy would spend the majority of his career in London. Whilst his first club was Bristol City he wouldn't make his first senior appearance until after his first transfer, to Newcastle United.

Signed in 1946 for £8,500 he would go on to score 22 goals in his 48 games. That return would earn him a move to the Capital just two seasons later.

He would go on and score 130 goals in 324 games for Chelsea and another 23 in 142 games for Fulham.
