The Senegalese right back came to Newcastle United towards the end of a pretty good career.

Starting his football journey at PSG, he would really make a name for himself at first Strasbourg and then Marseille, playing close to 150 games for each club, winning the only major trophy of his career in France, the French Cup.

It was Sam Allardyce who would poach the player for the Magpies on a three year deal. He impressed the home fans enough to gain his own terrace song, to the tune of 'Happy Days', rare for a full-back which tells you something of the impression he made with the fans.

His time on Tyneside would come to a sorry end however, with relegation to the Championship and him leaving amongst the backroom unrest at the club.

He was capped 35 times for his national team.
