For a player of Frank's stature, to be capped only 8 times by Scotland was something of a crime.

Twice an FA Cup winner with Newcastle United, Brennan was signed form Scottish side Airdrieonians for £7,500 in 1946 before he'd even made a single appearance for the Scottish side such was the talent of the uncompromising centre half.

A bit of a character too, he once turned up for a tour of South Africa with only his toothbrush.

He would go on to manage North Sheilds (in two different spells) and Darlington.

Frank died in his adopted home town of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1972.
