Born on the Isle of Dogs, Ivor started his long and distinguished career with Carlisle. Little did he know what was ahead of him.
Over 500 games as an Inside Forward moving from Carlisle to Sunderland, Manchester City and then Newcastle United. He would then go back to Carlisle before going to Scotland for a year with Queen of the South.
14 games for England would see him play in the 1954 World Cup, whilst playing in front of more than 130,000 at Hampden.
With 500 hundred hours flying for the RAF during WWII, a career as a journalist following his football career and being given the freedom Carlisle in 2018, a year before his death at the age of 96, he certainly had quite a life.
