Capped 24 times for Northern Ireland, Tommy was a bustling attacking midfielder who played well over 200 games in total for Newcastle United over a 10 year period.
And whilst it took him a little time to establish himself into the starting XI for the Magpies he would become something of a fans favourite in the latter period of his long spell at St James Park.
He won the Texaco Cup with Newcastle twice in 73 and 74.
But many Newcastle fans of the time will recall one goal in particular. An absolute screamer on New Years Day against rivals Sunderland in a 3-1 win.
Whilst he only played for 4 clubs (Glentoran, Newcastle United, Burnley and APOEL) he would manage many more, mostly in the lower reaches of the North East.
