Micky Channon ended up as something of a journeyman footballer who would play for 14 different clubs during a career that spanned 22 years.

He was best know for his time playing for 15 years (over two spells) at Southampton where he would reach England fame (46 caps and 21 goals) and win an FA Cup. He also had two year spell at Manchester City breaking up those years on the south coast.

He would have 5 loan spells throughout his career however, including one at Newcastle United, which would be far from a success as he could not find the form of his younger days with fellow ex-Southampton teammate Kevin Keegan.

Micky would continue his sporting career after his retirement from football. Indeed for many he is better known as a successful racehorse training than he ever was as a footballer, which says something about his record as a trainer.
