A left winger who made one appearance for his county at senior level having played most of his career as a striker, with a successful start to his professional career at St Johnstone (playing in a Cup Final against Celtic) before moving to Everton and then Birmingham in England.
HIs time at Newcastle United would be punctuated by injuries and he would leave the club having played 51 games in two years.
He would move to Hibs north of the border again, where he would play next to the legend that was George Best, before coming back to the North East of England with two spells at Gateshead and one at Blyth Spartans.
His managerial career would include short spells at Spartans again, Whitley Bay and then Queen of the South for four years before going full circle to finish his football career as manager of St Johnstone.
