An FA Cup winner with Newcastle United in 1951 with a 2-0 win over Blackpool at Wembley, Bobby's eight year career with the club had been delayed due to World War II.

A Geordie and a talented full back Bobby would play amongst some the greats of the era including Wor Jackie Milburn.

He would move to Middlesborough where he played for six season before finally a two year spell at Northampton Town.
