Born in Chicago Jim would represent the Republic of Ireland. Indeed he'd spend most of his career in Dublin with either Bohemian Football Club (where he started his career), at Shelbourne (where he play most of his professional games) or at Shamrock Rovers (as interim manager).

He's also manage at International level for the Republic of Ireland at U16, U18 and U21 levels.

He'd never make an impact at Newcastle United however, playing just the three games.
