Something of a legend north of the border for Rangers, Andy had already gained a great reputation during his six year stint at Kilmarnock.
Despite a War punctuated career at Ibrox he would win seven league titles and be amongst the first Rangers side to win the Scottish Cup in 1928. He would play a total of 350 league games for the Gers scoring 162 league goals in that time.
He became the top divisions first ever player manager when he arrived at Newcastle at the tender age of 38 following his time in Glasgow Rangers. He was also capped 12 times for his National Team. He was technically Newcastle’s first ‘manager’ and guided the Magpies to an FA Cup title in 1932.
