An uncompromising centre half, David joined Liverpool in 1928 having impressed in Scotland with Forfar Athletic the season before.

He'd spend two years on Merseyside, playing 58 league games, before a £4,000 move to Newcastle United in what would be a seven year stay with the Magpies.

Dave would win the FA Cup with Newcastle in 1932 against Arsenal and was considered an influential part of that generational United football team.
