Playing just 13 league games for Newcastle United, Billy only played for four clubs. He started at Middlesbrough before his move to St James Park, before a move to Peterborough and finally a pretty much non existent spell at Cambridge

He's score just 21 goals in 151 league appearances all told, making him far from prolific in the days when Wingers were a real source of goals for teams.

Clearly Middlesbrough thought enough of him to fly him in from National Service for their games (and back again afterwards).

On retirement Will would work as a bookmaker in the North of England.
