A player that most Newcastle fans grew to respect. Mainly used as a bit part player he was seen by some as an ideal replacement for Moussa Sissoko. Whilst his time playing in the Championship was largely successful he rarely reached height that would afford him a regular birth in the first team. At the end of the 17/18 season he enjoyed a run of games that elevate his status amongst the fans.
