'Stan' Dixon joined Newcastle from non-league Barrington Albion in 1914.

In a World War I interrupted career he'd play football for Newcastle once in 1913-14 and once in 14-15. A soldier in the Tyne Electrical Engineers, he'd serve on anti-aircraft duty before returning to football in 1920 for three seasons before moving to Blackburn.
