Starting his career in Newcastle reserves, Paul would be loaned to Gateshead and St Mirren before finally making his breakthrough into the Newcastle United first team.

Never considered a first team regular in his time at the club he was something of a cult figure however with his famous 'he drove his car into a bridge' song.

Making his debut in a 4-0 loss against Manchester City in the 2013-14 season but later that season scored a memorable goal in a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at St James Park.

His only real spell as a regular would come in the 14/15 season with David Santon injured at the time, but he would fail to hold on to his spot and would drop to be a squad player for most of the rest of his time at the club.
