At his best he was unplayable, the rest of the his career was spent on the treatment table, unfortunately for Newcastle, his other clubs and a player.

During his time playing for Sir Bobby Robson, Newcastle finished 3rd, 4th and 5th. The player was also involved in the infamous incident that saw two Newcastle players sent off for fighting, with each other, and no one else, during a game (Newcastle were already down to 10 men in that game after Steven Taylor had been sent off after being shot, sorry, deliberately handling the ball on the goal line (go and find it on YouTube if you've not seen it)!! He was fined the best part of £1/4m by the club and received a three game ban from the FA.

Under Sir Bobby there was also a view his injury was the difference between Newcastle being knocked out and winning the UEFA Cup. Probably a fair shout, but we'll never know.
