Local lad (Gosforth) Robbie started his career with Newcastle United playing 79 times in the league before a he was moved on to Bolton for a four year spell. He'd return to Newcastle though for a second spell and another five years.

He'd spend a year at Sunderland following his second Magpies tour and have brief stints at Leeds and Hartlepool before retiring.

Following his playing career he'd move to the US, taking up a role as a strengthening coach for their national youth team.
