Anyone else remember this?! Not many do. Howard started his career with Liverpool, but in the 6 years he was on the books there he only ever played 4 league games. Loan moves to Fulham and then Newcastle United, where he played 8 times and scoring twice, followed before he made a permanent move to Birmingham City. Spells at Sunderland, Stoke, Blackburn and finally Halifax followed. Gayle had a pretty good career all in all, playing 247 league games and scoring 47 times. He would also turn down an MBE nomination after retiring from playing football for his work in 'Show Racism the Red Card'. Howard, born in Toxteth, the same birth place as Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler, only managed to pick up one trophy in his entire career. That being the Champions League itself after playing an instrumental role in the second leg of the Semi-Final he was an unused substitute in the 1977 Final itself but received a medal as a member of the playing squad.
