Lewis Hall was something of a surprise signing in the summer of 2023.

The talented left back was signed on loan with an option to make permanent based on certain criteria being met in a deal that shocked many Chelsea fans who saw the youngster as one of their brightest young prospects.

The deal was possibly something to do with Chelsea's £1bn incoming transfer business to help them with Profit and Sustainability rules.

What made the move more interesting was his then complete lack of football at Newcastle United during 23/24, even during a spell where regular left back Dan Burn was injured.
