After leaving Burnley having let his contract run down, Jeff joined Newcastle United in the summer of 2020. That summer was one that will live long in the memory of most Newcastle fans of the time, with a failed Saudi backed takeover of the club leaving the hopes of many dashed in a year already like no other with the International Health Emergency that was COVID effecting everything on and off the pitch.

Jeff joined as a senior International and experienced Premier League campaigner. 55 Caps indeed for his National team at the time of joining and with over 100 PL games under his belt. Newcastle had lost the loan signing of Nabil Bentaleb that summer and the signing of Hendrick was seen as a welcome addition as United entered the 2020/21 season injury ravaged and short in confidence under manager Steve Bruce.

His time at Newcastle will not be remembered with much fondness by most Newcastle fans however. It had started well enough. A win in his opening fixture (2-1, Barnsley) and a goal and an assist for Calum Wilson in the following outing, but things tailed off pretty dramatically from there.

His sending off against Southampton would be the start of his downfall. Game time very much limited after that. Indeed he'd have been best staying away from the #nufc on social media platforms for most of his time at the club, with fans generally less than complimentary about the standard of his football when making a rare appearance, or indeed when not even playing.

He seemed a good pro however. No stories. No unrest of unsettled behaviour. But his time at the club was done.

A loan spell at QPR proved unsuccessful in 2021 before being moved out on loan again, this time to Reading in the summer of 2022, with the Saudi backed take-over complete and now in full flight.

His final loan (in the final year of his contract) would be at Sheffield Wednesday.

Jeff was released from the club when his contract expired in 2024.
