Lazaro joined Newcastle United on loan in the January of 2020. An exciting prospect who'd started his professional career at Red Bull Salzburg, he'd later moved to Hertha BSC before having a good start at Italian giants Inter. After losing his way a little in Milan, Steve Bruce seized the opportunity to bring him to Tyneside in an effort to fight the drop in season 19/20.

His chances were limited however for the remainder of a season hit by disruptions due to COVID. When Lazaro did get a chance he tended to perform well scoring against Bournemouth in the league and what proved to be the decisive third Newcastle goal in a 3-2 win in the Firth Round of the FA Cup against West Brom.

He left the club in the summer of 2020 and was immediately loaned out again for the full season, this time to Borussia Monchenglabach.
