Florian Lejeune was a centre half of real class and quality who joined Newcastle United from Eibar in 2017. His first season was a real success, with his teammate and fans taking in instant liking to the player. His time at Newcastle would be blighted by injury however, with the player barely being able to get a run in the side before seeing himself ruled out for another lengthily period.

His highlight, without a shadow of a doubt, was a most amazing double in injury time at Goodison Park. With Newcastle 2-0 down and deep into injury time, and with the home team fans streaming out of the stadium safe in the knowledge that their team had secured the three points after a dominant display, up popper Florian, twice between 93 and 96 minutes to send the travelling Toon Army into dreamland. With ex-Mackem Jordan Pickford in goal and flapping at the second strike, the comeback was made all the sweeter.

Florian would be sold by Steve Bruce however in 2021 with the player not fitting into his managers plans.
