James finished his career with Newcastle United, signing for the club aged 27 until his retirement at 34.

He played 121 times for the club over those 7 years and was impressive in his time at the club, playing as a right winger. He won the FA Cup with Newcastle United in 1924.

James had an 'interesting' journey before making it to the Magpies. He's started his career with Elgin City before moving to Edinburgh University where he played for the Uni side whilst studying Agriculture.

He would join Hearts in 1912 but would, in 1914 with his entire team, volunteer to fight for the Highlanders in World War I. He sustained a head injury for his troubles and returned in 1917. He would have a short spell at Rangers before finding his calling at Newcastle.

Low died in 1960.
