Yankuba was signed by Eddie Howe's Newcastle United in the summer of 2023. A promising talent playing for Odense in Denmark, United would pay almost £7m for the 18 year old who would immediately be loaned back out but to Feyenoord in the Dutch top flight for further development.

He would leave the club the following summer without playing a single game for United. Sold to Brighton in a desperate and ultimately successful attempt to meet the Premier Leagues financial PSR rules.
