Joe made his debut for Newcastle United as a 91st minute substitute in a 2-2 draw at St James Park against Bournemouth. Joe entered the pitch with his side 2-1 down and would witness a rare Matt Ritchie goal and the customary volley of the corner flag as the Geordies erupted.

A debut at 21 years old came after his working through the ranks at the Magpies. He joined the club in 2016 from Carlisle spending 5 years in the youth ranks before joining the senior ranks and then 3 different loan spells at Hartlepool, Exeter and Crewe.
