Stop the ride. I want to get off!

With under 3 weeks left in this transfer window, for buying players at least, Newcastle United manager and fans alike have once more been left frustrated by the reluctance of incompetence of the Newcastle United hierarchy.

Just three players have arrived at St James Park so far this summer, Kenedy (on loan), Ki (on a free) and Dubravka (£4m)

And with Newcastle handsomely in profit just from player sales following the £17m or so we’ve received form the Mbemba and Merino deals, the situation is both staggering and infuriating.

Rumours before the close season started were of a modest war chest for Rafa, maybe £30m or so, plus anything he could raise form player sales. ‘Modest’ when you look at the revenue Newcastle received last season and can guarantee for next. Looking back now, that notion was quite laughable.

Most alarming of all is that Rafa seems completely in the dark. Again. “As Lee Charnley”, his response when asked if he would see any of the Mbemba money.

And the Spaniard is cutting an increasingly frustrated figure in press conferences and post game interviews. It’s clear he’s told the Board he won’t sign any new deal until he knows he will be backed with signings.

Well that’s that then!

And it is this, the potential loss of Newcastle’s best manager for more than a decade, which seems to have finally tipped many Newcastle fans over the edge.

From the #IfRafaGoesWeGo Twitter campaign, to the Sports Direct media accounts being bombarded with ‘shaming’ messages, to a Motion read in Parliament, no less. It seems most have had enough.

It would take something spectacular for the club to rescue the situation now.

We don’t do spectacular anymore!

The fear, and almost certain reality now, is that we will be looking back at these words come the end of the season with the stark reality that we could all see the worst coming (in SO many ways).

And if we didn’t care so much, or were one of the millions of other football fans who are watching this unfold from a far, we’d laugh in the face of Mike Ashley when £300m get’s wiped off ‘his’ valuation of ‘his’ club in one fell swoop.

Shame on you!
