Origi knock-back

nufc.org understands that Liverpool have rejected an approach from Newcastle United to sign Divock Origi on loan. A source close to the Reds confirmed that Liverpool immediately rejected the approach last week, stating that the forward was needed for the remainder of their Champions League and title chasing Premier League campaign.

For Newcastle, the approach smacks of desperation. And is further evidence that the Magpies hierarchy are hurriedly dredging the loan market in an attempt to stave off relegation for another season. The continued links with loan players seemingly a world away from the thorough and considered transfer approach you’d expect of a club in the top 20 richest clubs in the world. The offer also places a huge question mark against the future of Kenedy at Newcastle United. A league rule only allows English top flight clubs to loan two players from other clubs across the Premier League. This would mean either Newcastle have found a way to count Rondon as a Championship loan (it’s believed he is currently counted as a Premier League loan), or the club is looking to cancel the Brazilian’s loan deal with Chelsea. Certainly, on current form Kenedy looks a long way from the player who’d shown glimpses of his brilliant best last season, and losing Rondon would be unthinkable. Whilst weakening Rafa Benitez wide options further hardly seems ideal either. With the clock counting down to Thursdays transfer deadline, this knock back is seemingly just another nail in Newcastle’s failed transfer policy with the club still yet to recruit any reinforcements for the remainder of the season. #InRafaWeTrust
