Newcastle today published a list of players who will be leaving the club at the end of June.
Whilst the list includes a host of fringe and youth players the list also includes two players of note.
Mo Diame’s contract expires at the end of the month and is the most high profile. 103 appearances in all competitions his effort in the Championship in particular was outstanding, as was his second half of the 17/18 season.
Benitez said of the Senegal International, whilst wishing him the best in his future exploits, ‘Mo has been a great servant to Newcastle United’.
Also leaving is Cal Roberts, one who perhaps though he’d have a longer term future at the club. Not to be however as he leaves with just one senior appearance to his name. A game against Blackburn in the FA Cup that also saw him score his only goal for the club.
Full list of released players: Mohamed Diame, Carl Roberts, Josef Yarney, Tyrique Bartlett, Juanito, Otto Huuhtanen, Stefan O’Connor, Max Allen, Thomas Cole, Sam Joyce and Deece Kasinga Madia
In the announcement, which can be read in full here, the club also announced offers for a number of fringe players.
