Shelvey & Dummett Red Cards Withdrawn
This afternoon brought news that the FA had 'withdrawn' the red card punishments handed out to both Jonjo Shelvey and Paul Dummett during the televised Nottingham Forest game last Friday.
An independant review found that both players had been wrongfully dismissed by referee Stephen Martin. The decision by the FA will leave Newcastle United fans feeling both justified in their criticism of the officials during the game yet no happier at the consequential 2-1 score line that after watching their men almost hang on with just just 9 men for most of the game.
Many football fans are now calling for action to be taken against the Forest player Lansbury after his antics during both sending off incidents. And whilst this is not going to happen the same cannot be said for referee Martin, who now surely faces some disciplinary action for his mismanagement of the game.
