Mitro: 'Nothing but a scratch!'

The injury suffered by Aleksandar Mitrovic in yesterday's FA Cup 3rd round tie at St Andrews, Birmingham is not as bad as first feared.

The player was injured in a collision with the Birmingham goalkeeper, Legzdins, in the incident that saw Newcastle take a 6th minute lead.

Mitrovic received considerable treatment on the pitch for almost ten minutes before being carried off whilst receiving Oxygen and being taken immediately to hospital.

Rafa said after the game that the player had cut his leg and was waiting to find out more, however news this morning will however come as a relief to everyone at NUFC as the injury was not as serious as first feared.

A deep cut to his leg was confirmed as the only damage suffered and there we was no break or ligament injury.

As horrific as this image looks, the player could be back in training in just over a week and back playing in under two.

Mitro himself confirmed this injury was 'nothing but a little scratch' (OK, we made that bit up). However news on the extent of the injury will come as a great relief for all concerned.
