Summer Spend Summary

With the window now shut this is a summary of the business undertaken by all the Premier League clubs this summer.

Two clubs had more incomings than any other with 8 each, those being Everton and Manchester City. And whilst both clubs recouped a significant chunk of cash back from the same of players (£87m and £93m respectively) they both not surprisingly in the top 4 NET spenders too.

Top spenders in the division were Manchester United however with a whopping £131m NET spend following the arrival of just the three players. What they have invested in are real game changers however with Lukaku and Matic already having made an instant impact.

Making up the top 4 big spenders are predictably Chelsea with a late run of signings including Drinkwater on deadline day.

At the otter end of the spectrum are Swansea, Burnley, Arsenal and Stoke who all made a profit.

As for our very own Newcastle United. £13m. Enough said. And whilst 6 teams had a NET spend of less than the Magpies it feels like complete underinvestment from NUFC when you look at Brighton and Huddersfield who both spent upwards of £35m.

Time will tell…
