Mitro Off
A deal to take Aleksandar Mitrovic back to Fulham has now been agreed.
The news broke on Sky Sports last night that the two clubs had come to an arrangement that would see the Serb move to Craven Cottage in a deal initially worth £22m and that could rise to £27m depending on his and the clubs performance.
Mitrovic spent the second half on loan at Fulham last season and enjoyed an extremely successful spell at the London club, ultimately helping them gain promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.
A fans favourite, he scored 12 goals in just 17 games for Fulham, managing to get through the entire spell with just the 3 yellow cards and no reds.
We will, at least, get to see what the player is made of with regular football in the Premier League as it was clear that he was nowhere near being in the plans of Rafa Benitez at Newcastle United.
Only time will tell whether this will turn out to be a case of ‘what could have been’, with so many Newcastle fans still admiring the lad. He certainly seems to go with the fans blessing.
The deal should be concluded early this week with the player flying back from Newcastle’s trip to Portugal to complete a medical.
Now - at least show Rafa the money Charnley!
