Rondón at last!

After what seems an eternity of rumours, speculation and frustration, today brought the news that Jóse Salomón Rondón is now a Newcastle United player. For the time being at least.

Rondón joins on a seasons long loan from Championship side West Bromwich Albion with Dwight Gayle going in the other direction along with a payment thought to be in the region of £2m.

Rondón averages a goal about every 3 games in his career, less in the Premier League, although is one of those that seems to threaten to be so much more that what you see in terms of stats.

He had an interesting history with successful spells at Las Palmas and Malaga following his move from his country playing for Aragua in Maracay .His move to Zenit though made him the most expensive Venezuelan in history, scoring 20 goals in 37 league games.

His time at WBA has was less productive, with 24 in 108 league games.

Let’s hope that under Rafa, who certainly seems very keen on the player, he finds the sort of form he had in Russia again.

Welcome Salomón.
