Caraboooooo Cup Draw
You couldn’t make it up.
With 50 teams drawn in round two of the League (Carabao) Cup, there would be only one all Premier League clash. And yes, you’ve guessed it, it involves Newcastle United.
A home tie with Leicester City, no doubt led on the night by Ayoze Perez just for a laugh, will be the site of this years early exit.
You could argue that at least the tie is at home, but quite honestly our only chance of anything like a cup run was always going to be a great deal of luck when it came to pulling out the balls. Ah well.
Don’t take our word for the misfortune, just look at the draw and our long term Cup history, and consider if this particular assessment is anything but fair…
Plymouth v Reading
Crawley v Norwich
Newport v West Ham
Oxford United v Millwall
Watford v Coventry
Swansea v Cambridge United
Cardiff v Luton
Bristol Rovers v Brighton
Crystal Palace v Colchester
Fulham v Southampton
Bournemouth v Forest Green
Southend v MK Dons
QPR v Portsmouth
Crewe v Aston Villa
Lincoln v Everton
Leeds v Stoke
Sheffield United v Blackburn
Rotherham v Sheffield Wednesday or Bury
Newcastle United v Leicester
Burton v Morecambe
Burnley v Sunderland
Nottingham Forest v Derby
Grimsby v Macclesfield
Preston v Hull
Rochadale v Carlisle
The stand out tie has to be Forest v Derby of course. And with TV likely to want some lower league giant killing cup magic it's possible we'll be spared our blushes being broadcast of national TV at least.
Brilliant!
