Signing Confirmed: MOHAMED DIAME
Newcastle United moved quickly to strengthen their attacking options in midfield today following the loss of Wijnaldum to Liverpool last week.
The capture of Mohamed Diame from has infuriated Hull fans in what will be another slap in the face for the Tigers fans. Having lost Steve Bruce who quit the club last week over a lack of transfer funds, the thread bare squad has now been weakened again with United triggering a release clause in his contract believed to be around £5m.
Newcastle are gaining another proven Championship seasoned professional having been promoted last season with Hull, scoring the only goal and a screamer against Sheffield United in the Play-Off final back in May.
Diame started 34 times for Hull last season scoring 10 goals and laying on a further 4.
Now 29 it is yet another sign that Rafa is well and truly rolling the roost when it comes to who he wants and who he gets in the transfer market. He is a Senegal International (as is Saivet), and played most of last season alongside Hayden in the Hull midfield where he can play in any of the central midfield roles.
The former Wigan and West Ham lad has played a total of 239 times in English league and cup competitions with last seasons return per games being the best of his career. Let’s hope we get another year like that out of the lad.
