Come on you Maggies - Joe's the man!

A huge transfer breakthrough this afternoon as Newcastle United finally confirmed the news that all Magpies fans had been waiting for, the transfer of Joe Willock from Arsenal.

Willock rejoins Newcastle United having spent the post Christmas period on loan on Tyneside, making a huge impact for the black and whites, including scoring in each of his last 7 games before the summer break.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the U21 England International has joined on a full time deal, signing a 6 year contract having prised the former Gunner away from London for a fee of around £25m..

The signing is a huge boost for the Newcastle faithful, and the manager, having seen the club release six players already this summer.. Having made such an impact last season it seemed inconceivable that United would not go all out to ensure the club started the season at least as strong as they finished it. Indeed, with Alan Saint-Maximin commenting 'we need to be signing players like Joe Willock' in his post season round up, it certainly felt as if this signing was also just as important in keeping some of the existing key players happy.

Only time will tell whether there is to be more activity on the incoming front, with a defensive midfielder, some further depth up front and some key cover at left back surely a priority..
