Signing Confirmed: DeAndre Yedlin

Newcastle moved quickly to fill the gap left by the move away from Newcastle by Daryl Janmaat with the permanent purchase of Spurs right back DeAndre Yedlin on a 5 year deal for a deal rumoured to be in the region of £5m.

Yedlin is a USA national who, since joining Tottenham back in 2014, has been back to the States on load at Sounders FC and then ‘enjoyed’ a load spell at that lot down the road last season playing 23 times in the league for the Mackems having only played 11 minutes in the league for the London outfit.

A regular now in the USA first team DeAndre plays at right back although can fill in at right midfield if required.

Whether he will be thrust straight into the first team ahead of Gamez or Anita remains to be seen, but certainly some much needed cover.
