Newcastle United 3-0 Ipswich

Newcastle stretched their lead at the top of the Championship to 3 points this afternoon following another impressive win, this time 3-0 against Ipswich.

Two goals from Perez, the first being the fastest in the Championship this season with only 57 seconds on the clock, and one from Matt Ritchie sent most of the 51,963 fans home happy once more after making it five wins in a row in the league and 7 unbeaten now in all competitions.

Perez celebrated NUFC

Under a minute is all it took for Newcastle United to take full control of this one. A move involving all eleven players, some more than once, ended in a flicked on cross falling for an unmarked Perez some 20 yards from goal. The Spaniard would make no mistake in firing the ball passed Bialkowski.

A dream start.

Newcastle would go on to boss a game and should have stretched their lead on several occasions against an Ipswich side who looked short of ideas and continually would rely on the ‘big men up front’ to cause the hosts a few limited problems.

The black and whites would however need to wait until the 73 minute to get their second and kill the game.

In truth Newcastle could have been further ahead before the second went in. Good chances for Ritchie and Shelvey went begging before that goal making the third goal for the hosts probably a fair reflection of their dominance. This goal was a peach from the outside of Ritchies left boot.

This was and example of how to win a game without even getting out of second gear. With Shelvey imperious once more, and with goal coming from all over the pitch, the signs continue to be just great.
