Newcastle United 2-1 Cardiff

Newcastle United made it 8 wins on the spin with another hard fought, but ultimately comfortable 3 points against a Cardiff side rejuvenated under Neil Warnock in recent weeks.

Goals at the either end of the first half would ensure that Rafa's men would continue to sit proudly at the top of the league table after 16 league games played and now find themselves 8 points above 3rd placed Huddersfield after more slip ups from the chasing pack.

The goals could not have been better times from first Atsu in the 3rd minute and Gouffran in the 45th, and whilst Wittingham would get one back in the 77th for Cardiff to make things more nervous than they'd needed have been, the match was managed to a conclusion with relative ease despite a late claim for a penalty from the Cardiff team and management.
