Newcastle United player ratings v Brentford (A)
After a war of attrition at Griffin Park last weekend you’ve been giving us your player ratings as the Mags took all 3 points back to the North East courtesy of a Dwight Gayle thunder strike and a timely second goal of the season for super sub Daryl Murphy.
After the game Murphy said he knew he’d score once he got his chance, following Gayle’s injury. as he says “I always score against Brentford”.
Well the goal, as much as it was against the run of play at the time, certainly found favour with the Newcastle travelling faithful and with your votes alike with Murphy coming second only to another MOM performance from Ciaran Clark who continues to be the outstanding and form player as Newcastle defended manfully for most of the game or just got away with a few. Lascelles again however may want to have a look at his performance as his bang average 5.0 rating would suggest he was found lacking, and he was, on more than one occasion.
We can’t really argue with any of the ratings this week and whilst Gayle takes a 6.9 rating from fans the other stand out performance was once more that of Darlow.
A little bit of a welcome surprise was the performance of Ayoze Perez. And with Diame away now at the AFCON we may well need a bit more of that from the Spaniard.
In midfield the only shock to us was that you thought Colback was worth a 4.3. Once more your lowest rating. Let’s just be thankful Jonjo is back next time out eh!
If you’ve not shared your player ratings with us then you can do so quickly and easily HERE. No need for filling in forms or questionnaires with us.
Whilst you may also wish to see how this weeks player ratings look when added to the rest of the seasons stats HERE. You perhaps won’t be shocked to see that our Nr 2 is also way out ahead in the race for fans player of the season here either.
